About

Meet the Artist: Dani Fryer (and Fred)

Hi, I'm Dani.I've been an artist for as long as I can remember. I make things by hand across a few different mediums, pyrography, textiles, sculpture, oil paint, digital papers and print, and I've never seen the point of picking one and staying there.
If an idea wants heat and wood, it gets pyrography. If it wants depth, it gets oil paint. Some things need to be held, so they become cloth or sculpture.Everything here is made by my own hand. No AI, nothing generated or traced. Every line, every stitch and every burn mark started with me. It takes longer that way, but it means each piece is handmade and one of a kind.

I grew up in South Africa and trained at the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg. In 2002 I moved to England, and I now work from a small studio at home in Hampshire, shared with my family and whatever wildlife wanders in.

Fred, our orange cat, is usually asleep on the armrest. Outside there are squirrels, pigeons, crows and one robin who has decided the garden is his. They end up influencing my work more often than I plan.

Thank you for taking a look, and for buying something made by hand.
